TRAILHUB · LONE PEAK OVERLANDPrivacy Policy
Trailhub is a community app for overlanders — a social feed, trip reports and routes, vehicle builds, forums, convoys, gear-drop events, and offline maps — made by Lone Peak Overland ("we," "us"). This policy explains what information Trailhub collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the Trailhub app on iOS and Android, the web app at trailhead.lonepeakoverland.com, and related services.
1. Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and a handle you choose, plus an optional profile photo, bio, and phone number. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the name and email (or Apple's private relay address) those services share with us.
Content you create. Posts, photos and videos, comments, trip reports and recorded routes, vehicle builds, forum threads and replies, camping spots you add, convoy details, direct and group messages, gear-drop check-in photos and notes, and raffle entries.
Location. With your permission, Trailhub uses your device's precise location to show nearby camping spots and your position on the map, record routes and trips, give directions, verify check-ins at gear-drop waypoints, and send recovery alerts you choose to post. Location is used while you're using those features. Recorded routes and trip locations you save become part of your content. Map regions you download for offline use are stored on your device.
Device and usage information. A device or installation identifier used to deliver push notifications, basic device information (model, operating system, app version), and usage information such as which screens you view, how you arrived at the app, and whether you open a notification. Trailhub uses this to keep the app working, understand what's used, and improve it. We do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Contact and consent information. When you enter a drawing (raffle) you provide your name and phone number and agree to be contacted by Lone Peak Overland; we record that consent and when you gave it. If you join our ambassador program, we collect payout details through Stripe and information about orders that used your discount code.
Information stored on your device. Trailhub stores settings, offline map regions, and changes you make while offline on your device so they can be synced when you reconnect.
2. How we use information
- To provide Trailhub: your profile, feed, maps and navigation, routes, builds, forums, messaging, convoys, gear drops, drawings, and offline features.
- To send notifications you've enabled — likes, comments, mentions, messages, convoy and gear-drop updates, and occasional announcements.
- To keep the community safe: reviewing reported content, moderation, blocking, and preventing abuse. Uploaded photos are automatically screened for explicit content and given descriptive alt text using an AI service (see below).
- To run promotions you enter — selecting and notifying winners, issuing prize codes, and publishing official rules.
- To contact you about Lone Peak Overland campers, builds, and offers when you've agreed to that (for example, as a condition of entering a drawing). You can withdraw that consent at any time — see "Your choices."
- To administer the ambassador program: attributing orders, calculating commissions, and paying you.
- To understand how Trailhub is used and improve it.
3. Who can see your content
Trailhub is a community. Your profile, posts, public trip reports and plans, builds, forum activity, and public camping spots are visible to other Trailhub users and, for public content, to anyone on the web (public pages can appear in search engines). Private plans, private camping spots, drafts, and direct messages are visible only to you and the people you share them with. Your precise live location is never shown to other users except where you choose to share it — for example, your position on a live gear-drop tracker while you're racing, or a recovery alert you post.
Featured content. As described in the Terms of Service, Lone Peak Overland may feature public content you post — photos, builds, trip reports, and forum posts, with your name or handle — in our marketing, website, and social channels. We keep an archive of public media for this purpose. Content you've made private, drafts, and direct messages are never used this way.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described here:
| With | What and why |
|---|---|
| Service providers | Companies that process information on our behalf, under contract, only to provide their service to us: cloud hosting, database, authentication, and file storage; map, place-search, and directions services (which receive the coordinates and addresses you look up); offline map delivery; push-notification delivery; account email delivery; an automated image-screening service that checks uploaded photos for explicit content and writes descriptive alt text (photos are processed for that purpose only and are not used to train AI models); a payment processor for ambassador payouts; and the e-commerce platform that issues prize discount codes and records ambassador-attributed orders. Sign-in providers (Google, Apple) receive only what's needed to authenticate you. |
| Lone Peak Overland sales | If you've agreed to be contacted (for example when entering a drawing), your name, phone number, and email are shared with our sales team and stored in our sales system so they can reach you. |
| Other users | Your public content and profile, as described in section 3. |
| Legal | When required by law, to protect the rights and safety of users or the public, or to enforce our Terms of Service. |
| Business transfers | If Lone Peak Overland is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred with appropriate protections. |
5. Your choices and rights
- Location: control it in your device settings. Map features that need location won't work without it; everything else will.
- Notifications: turn categories on or off in Profile → Settings, or disable push entirely in your device settings.
- Sales contact: withdraw consent at any time by emailing us or replying STOP to a text; we'll stop contacting you for marketing.
- Blocking and reporting: block any user from their profile or a conversation, and report content or users from within the app.
- Edit or delete content: you can edit or delete your own posts, comments, trips, builds, and spots at any time.
- Delete your account: Profile → Settings → Delete Account removes your account and your content. Some information may remain in backups for a limited time, and content others have re-shared may persist.
- Access and portability: email us and we'll provide a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
If you're in California, the EU/EEA, the UK, or another region with privacy laws, you may have additional rights (access, correction, deletion, objection, portability, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them). Contact us at the address below to exercise them. We do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Retention
We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to provide Trailhub. When you delete your account, we delete your profile and content, except where we need to retain information for legal, safety, or accounting reasons (for example, ambassador payment records and promotion winner records) or in routine backups that expire on a rolling basis.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest with our providers, access to production systems is restricted, and database access is enforced per user through row-level security. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us right away.
8. Children
Trailhub is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as Trailhub evolves. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
