How to Wire a LP 3rd Brake Light on a Jeep Gladiator JT

Anyone else having trouble figuring out how to wire the 3rd brake light (CHMSL) on a Lone Peak camper to a Jeep Gladiator JT?

I ran into the same problem and finally figured out a clean solution, so I wanted to share it here.

The issue is that the Gladiator’s trailer wiring doesn’t have a dedicated brake-light output. The left and right brake/turn signals are combined, so you can’t simply grab one wire for the camper’s third brake light. If you do, the third brake light will flash with that turn signal.

The solution is a stop logic module — ATC AT-LC-8N.

It takes the left and right Stop/Turn signals and separates the brake signal, giving you a dedicated output for the camper’s third brake light.

Wiring:

• 🟡 Yellow → Jeep Left Stop/Turn
• 🟢 Green → Jeep Right Stop/Turn
• ⚫ Black → Ground
• 🔴⚪ Red/White → Lone Peak 3rd Brake Light RED (+)
• ⚫ Lone Peak 3rd Brake Light BLACK → Ground

I tapped the signals at the factory trailer connector, so there was no need to run wires all the way up to the Jeep’s taillights.

The module basically looks at both Stop/Turn circuits and provides a clean brake-only output for the CHMSL.

Brake = 3rd brake light ON
Left turn = 3rd brake light stays OFF
Right turn = 3rd brake light stays OFF

This turned out to be a pretty simple solution once I figured out what was needed.
