What features matter most in an overland truck camper?
I’m Zack and I have a Lone Peak V1 camper on my Ram 2500. Aside from the obvious of using the Lone Peak for camping, my wife and I have used ours as a base camp for off road racing media coverage.

For our needs, the feature that matters most is the modularity. We have equipped our camper to be a moving creative studio that is able to transport and power whatever equipment we may have.
What actually matters?

Sustainability is key and our Lone Peak is built to provide everything we need when there are no other amenities. We have power for camera equipment, constantly being replenished from the sun or the truck. We also have a rest area up top, when we are in between jobs or just on a short break, it’s amazing what a short nap can do. Another important feature is the side access doors that allow complete access with no supports in the way. We often load and unload from the side doors and can easily remove bulky items with no issue. And a very underrated feature, the ability to have a heated space when the outside world is cold via the diesel heater port. It truly is a game changer and we are no longer limited to the fair weather seasons for using the camper.
Mistakes to avoid
A lot of people tend to try and attach as much as they can right away. It’s been our experience and our advice to test the camper out in familiar environments, family property or even your driveway. Then make notes of what you wish you had and/or where it would be most ergonomic. For accessories from Lone Peak, I would recommend ordering those with your camper so those items are installed the right way.
