Not our best moment
During our Colorado trip we made an oops…. That’s right, we drove away from our camp spot with the camper top open 😬
My Adventure
Honestly, we never thought we'd make this mistake… but here we are! 😂 The trail started out super open and exposed, with some absolutely beautiful views as we drove through the sagebrush. As we got closer to the end, the incline picked up and the trail became narrower, with trees hanging overhead. With the wind picking up, we decided to camp tucked into the trees rather than out on the exposed ridge line. The next morning, we got an early start and headed back down the trail. We quickly noticed we were hitting a LOT more trees than we had on the way up. That's when we spotted it… our camper was OPEN! 😳 We pulled over to assess the damage and get everything closed back up. Thankfully, it wasn't as bad as it could have been! Just a couple of scratches on the solar panels and a whole lot of sticks and leaves. So, what did we learn? Always do one last walk around before hitting the road. We now have a checklist that we go through before leaving every campsite. Our checklist: Table, Chair, Recovery box, Propane and strap, Lava box, Side tables x2, Step stools x2, Moose rug, Camper closed, Pump off, Leveling blocks, Pass-through window closed. It's funny how a little mistake can turn into such a valuable lesson. This checklist has already saved us multiple times.
